The Fruit Of The Spirit – Joy

Buying something new usually makes us happy..  Buy this happiness doesn’t last long.  This is true of material things; they only bring momentary joy or happiness.

The joy we speak of here does not fade with time but grows stronger.  Even trials of life cannot make it fade away.  It is a joy we have because we are in Christ (Gal. 3:27; 2 Tim. 2:10; Rom. 6:3-4) and have a wonderful relationship with Him.   This joy also comes from the gratitude that we have toward God for all of the wonderful blessings He has given us so richly and so freely.

It is good will toward others with a desire to help them find the same joy we have in Christ.  The following acrostic on JOY will help us to remember how to have this joy in our lives:

Jesus first

Others second

You last

The Beatitudes in Mt. 5: 3 ff are a wonderful commentary on how to have this true joy.
