Conformed? Or Transformed? — Rick Laing

And do not be conformed to this world [age], but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Rom. 12:2)

To be CONFORMED to this world is to:

Be shaped by worldly opinion.

Fit in without making a ripple.

Seek the praise and popularity of men.

Talk in an ungodly way, or deliberately leave God right out of the conversation.

Dress loosely and provocatively, like the world.

Drink and party with the world.

Engage in sex outside of marriage, like the world.

Lie a little; cheat a little; steal a little, like the world.

Hand the devil the remote control to your life, like the world.

Exhibit a careless attitude about spiritual things.

Practice a careless attitude about others.

To be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind involves:

Loving God (1 John 4:7-8, 19).

Dying to sin (Rom. 6:11).

Becoming obedient from the heart to Christ’s teaching (Rom. 6:17).

Focusing on Christ and moving closer to His image (2 Cor. 3:18).

Seeking things above (Col. 3:1-2).

Putting aside anger, wrath, malice, slander (Col. 3:8).

Putting on compassion, kindness, humility, love (Col. 3:12-14).

Letting Christ’s Word dwell richly in you (Col. 3:16).

Stand up.  Stand out. Stand on God’s Word.

Be willing.  Be changed.  Be like Him.
