Getting What You Want

 

Two little teardrops were floating down the river of life. One teardrop asked the other, “Who are you?”

“I’m a teardrop from a girl who loved a man and lost him. But who are you?”

The first teardrop replied, “I’m a teardrop from the girl who got him.”

Life is like that. We cry over the things we cannot have, but we might cry twice as much if we received them.

Where Can We Find True And Lasting Satisfaction?

In the sacred text found in 1 John 2:12-27, the apostle John warns mature men and young men of the following three lusts:

 

1) The lust of the flesh (Genesis 3:6; cf. Joshua 7:21 — “saw that the tree was good for food“) — the insatiable appetite to indulge in pleasures that inflame the flesh but never truly satisfy (Numbers 11).
